Meet Dr. Douglas Kay

Making a positive difference in patient’s lives is what healthcare is all about. After practicing dentistry for more than 35 years, I’ve had the honor to meet and build connections with many people in our community. My team and I are particularly humbled when patients bring their family members to see us: having the opportunity to care for multiple generations, and their confidence in the dentistry we provide, is a testimony to what a family practice can be.

Restoring function so a person can comfortably chew, relieving pain, and improving smiles, are all part of my day. Each encounter and every procedure is a chance to make a person happier and healthier, to educate and encourage and, yes, to make them smile.

My team is as committed to our patient family as I am. Each is professional, kind, and compassionate. They work hard to keep patients comfortable during visits, ensuring everything goes smoothly and is stress-free. Our greatest rewards are happy smiles at the end of a visit.

Education

I attended Loyola University, where I received my Bachelor of the Arts degree. I then attended the University of Paris for dental school, achieving my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS).

Dental school gave me an excellent foundation of knowledge about oral health, but this is a constantly evolving field. Advancements in techniques, along with new materials and technology, are ongoing. It is essential I stay up-to-date on new processes and options, carefully evaluating each, in order to determine which are right for my patients.

I participate in a range of continuing education, through study clubs, conferences, lectures, and professional organizations, learning from researchers, practitioners, and my peers.

Beyond the Practice

I’m a Chicago native and, for the last 20 years, have called Glen Ellyn my home. Laura, my wife, and I have six children: Mike, Phil, Amanda, Kayla, Brianna, and Natalie. They have given us six wonderful grandchildren: Micah, Cooper, Carson, Camden, Mackenzie, and Madison, whom we love. We also have a much-loved dog, Charliee.

Time with my family is a priority outside of work. I also enjoy volunteering to the less fortunate in our community. I’m a regular participant in activities through the Illinois Foundation for Dentistry for the Handicapped and the Illinois Missions of Mercy.
